FAQ
Question:
Why is there only a line drawing tool?
Answer: Partly because I haven't had time to
create more tools, and partly because line drawing most closely resemble hand-drawing
a card.
Question:
Why is there only a few line thickness settings?
Answer: The Java 1.1 version I use (it's the
one supported in most browsers) use AWT which has limited functionality. I
would have to write my own line drawing algorithm to handle more settings.
Question:
Why can't I upload tiles or images to the shared area?
Answer: That could give me trouble if people
upload copyrighted images or naughty stuff (and they eventually will I'm sure).
Question:
Why isn't there more images and tiles to choose from?
Answer: I haven't bothered yet. If you have images
and tiles without copyright infringements and wish to share them please contact
me.
Question:
What's the banner thing on top of the page?
Answer: It's just the banner for my site (the
faces are me and my wife).
Question:
How does is work?
Answer: There's the static web pages, some web
page templates parsed and extended on the fly with a Perl CGI script, a Java
applet to provide the card itself and yet another script to handle card retrieval/sending.
There's also some public domain software for scaling and thumbing images.
Question:
Who's done the service? Who's helped you with this and that etc.?
Answer: I've done all the parts of the service.
I'm a computer scientist with a fair bit of patience when I'm working on things
I find stimulating, so that worked out fine.
Question:
